Users can play music through Pi Music Player from their File Managers as well. Open your desired file manager and select the track to be played. You will be displayed with a system message asking you to choose which app you would like to open the file with. This message will display all the apps that are capable of playing the selected file.

Here, you will be displayed with two choices with respect to Pi Music Player. The user can make either of these options as the default choice or as a one time use. They are:

  1. Pi Music Player : This option will play the selected track in the Player Screen. To know more about how to use the player screen, click here .
  1. Floating Pi Music Player : This option will play the selected track in a small floating player window shown in the image below. This dialog has minimal features such as album art display, track info, play/pause and seek bar.

Certain file managers don’t give out enough file information to other apps. In such a scenario, if the user selects Pi Music Player and the Player can’t get enough info from the file manager, the track will automatically open in the Floating Pi Music Player. The Floating Player can be closed by pressing the back button in your device or by minimizing the screen by pressing the home button.

The floating player retains the same theme/background that is currently set in the app.
