Navigation: From the Main Menu select Setup Entry and then press the Sales Categories button.

In this window, you set up your various categories of customers, for various reports.

  • On the Daily Report, sales are summarized by these categories. For instance, if your categories are Retail, Commercial, and Wholesale, your Daily Report displays how much you sold to each of these types of customers, showing your sales and profit for the day, month, etc.
  • The Item Groups by Sales Categories report under Customer Reports will break you sales down much further, for any time period.
  • Most of the other Customer Reports let you report on specific Sales Categories.

Creating a New Sales Category

  • Press the New button.
  • Code: Enter a short Code for the sales category, such as: Retail, Comm, Whsle.
  • Name: The full name for the sales Category, for example: Retail Customers.
  • Price Level: Using the drop-down box, decide which price level this type of customer will typically use.
  • Default Tax Type: Using the drop-down box choose which tax rate this type of customer will typically use.
  • Don’t Expand Tire Packages: This option will ignore next linked item for this sales category, and instead will only pull on individual items or packages. For example, this can be helpful for your wholesale customers who you know will not want a new tire package pulled onto a workorder when a new tire is attached.
  • Workorder/Statement/Invoice Messages: These messages can be up to 200 characters long and will appear at the bottom of every respective form for customers in this sales category.
  • Press the Save Changes button.

  • Template for “Thank You” Email: Here you can attach a Thank You Email to each specific Sales Category. This email will be sent every time an invoice is generated for a customer in that Sales Category.
